Singer, songwriter and producer Tommy Wiggins’ bucket list has always included leading a hot studio session band. Since relocating to Nashville, it’s mission accomplished.
And as a bonus, his Tommy’s Tracks studio posse has become a potent live act, hard-hitting and viscerally kicking out the Roots/Americana jams as “Wiggy and the Wild Ones.”
The record’s genesis was a weekly club residency at a downtown Nashville club. It didn’t take long before “Wiggy and the Wild Ones” had two smokin’ sets of Tommy’s songs begging to be recorded. So one afternoon they laid down this set of tavern-tested tunes.
The resulting “Wiggy and the Wild Ones Live!” shows what seasoned session cats can deliver after some stage time in front of a live audience. These Nashville Cats mean business, with everyone in in the band playing and singing their tails off. Tommy delivers with in-the-moment passion, the rhythm section (who’ve been together ten years) lays down some deep pockets, and the solos literally leap out from the speakers. Four of the members lead their own groups. Together, as Wiggy and the Wild Ones, they deliver a “Live” roots-rockin’, Americana cornucopia.
